The Journey Between Then and Now
When my mother and I dreamed up StayBoutique in 2015, we were driven by a simple belief: that the soul of boutique hospitality lives in the stories of the people who create it. We wanted travelers to connect not just with beautiful spaces, but with the creative visionaries behind them.
Over the years, StayBoutique evolved. From a storytelling platform to the live event hub for our hotel association, then into a direct booking platform connecting guests with authentic boutique properties. And then, like so many dreams, the pandemic asked us to pause.
But pause isn’t the same as stop.
This Lunar New Year, as we enter the Year of the Fire Horse, a time of passion, freedom, and wild momentum, we are quietly breathing new life into StayBoutique. Not as it was, but as it’s meant to become.

The Journey Changed Me
In these years away, I traveled differently. I spent a month on pilgrimage in India, moving temple to temple across the East. I studied herbalism at a tucked-away center in Costa Rica and completed yoga teacher training in Bali. I got lost in the mythology of Glastonbury and traced Georgia O’Keeffe’s creative spirit through Santa Fe. I learned pottery in Oaxaca, stayed on regenerative farms along Mexico’s Pacific coast, and discovered the private paradise of Careyes. There were afternoons stumbling through the souks of Marrakesh, mornings at Esalen in Big Sur, late dinners in Puglia, and the kind of pizza in Rome that ruins you for anywhere else. I sat in the front row at Paris Fashion Week and wandered around Mexico City as if I lived there.

Some stays were glamorous, like Hotel Hermitage in Monaco. Others were simple, soulful, the kind where the owner knows your name by morning. What I learned is this: boutique isn’t about a price point or a style. It’s about intention. It’s about creators who pour their vision into every detail, whether that’s a gilded palace or a guesthouse where someone hand-paints the tiles.

What’s Emerging
StayBoutique is returning more aligned with who I am today. We’re still the curators of authentic boutique hotels, still creating that direct connection between traveler and hotelier that makes every stay more meaningful. But now we’re celebrating the full spectrum. Spiritual sanctuaries and adventure outposts. Opulent hideaways and conscious escapes. Boutique is a way of being in the world: intentional, creative, deeply personal.

Slowly, deliberately, we’re emerging. A couple of articles a week. Stories that matter. Discoveries worth sharing. My mom and I have big plans, but we’re building them thoughtfully, with the same care our hoteliers put into their properties.
Welcome back. Or if you’re new here, welcome home.
Here’s to the Fire Horse. To passion, to freedom, to galloping forward into something beautiful.
