Tell us your most noteworthy achievement in hospitality: Years ago, at another hotel, our team successfully and safely evacuated 200+ people during a severe rainstorm and flood.
Tell us how your hotel impacts the world in a positive way: We’ve put people back to work, donated to help improve the lives of our local homeless population, and continue to volunteer in our community.
If you had one day to experience your hotel, what would you do?: Hotel Santa Barbara has a unique and fantastic location, in downtown Santa Barbara, on State Street. I’d walk out the door in the morning to Dawn, across the street, for coffee and croissant on my way to Stearns Wharf and the beach. From there I’d be just a block from the Funk Zone for some shopping and lunch at Shalhoob’s for delicious barbeque. Next it would be a quick bike ride to the Harbor on a rented electric BCycle to board a coastal cruise on the Double Dolphin. Post cruise, a half dozen oysters or some Uni from Santa Barbara Fish Market. After a quick ride back downtown, you’d find me on the Urban Wine Trail sampling some of California’s best wine. Then, a stroll to dinner at one of Santa Barbara’s Michelin recognized restaurants like Loquita.
Tell us what your favorite part of being a boutique hotel operator is: Inspiring team members to find their “why” is my “why”. Its really rewarding to hear a guest praise the team’s ability to deliver a wonderful experience for them. And even more rewarding to see the smile on our team member’s face in that moment.
Something that is coming up in the pipeline: Our focus is the re-imagining and renovation of Hotel Santa Barbara.
