Style

Bold and trend-forward

From 2013 to 2016, Perrotin New York was housed in a historic building on the Upper East Side’s iconic Madison Avenue. After three successful years there, the gallery expanded to a 2,300-square-meter space on 130 Orchard Street in New York City’s Lower East Side. Founded by Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris at the age of 21, the gallery has always operated less like a white box and more like a cultural embassy. Perrotin functions as a free art centre — not a space where only collectors are welcomed — and its Lower East Side address keeps that democratic spirit in the right zip code. With a roster that has included Takashi Murakami, Maurizio Cattelan, and Daniel Arsham, alongside a bookshop stocked with editions and artist objects, it’s as much a destination as a gallery.
