El Moore
624 W Alexandrine St
“The El Moore began its life as spacious, upscale flats catering to auto executives on Detroit’s near-rural periphery. Some thirty years later, it was transformed into a crowded, Depression-era boarding house. The El Moore emerged again as a central place in the gritty but singular Cass Corridor story of the 1960s and ’70s, only to again decline in the late 20th century, eventually becoming foreclosed and abandoned. In 2010, the Green Garage purchased the El Moore building and, after years of design and reconstruction, reopened its doors as a living example of sustainable-based urban design. Come join us in helping to create a more sustainable future for our neighborhood, our beloved city of Detroit, and our planet.”
