The Arts Club
40 Dover St, Mayfair
The Arts Club was founded by Charles Dickens in 1863 and intended for use by men who worked in or enjoyed the arts, literature and science. These days, its many patron includes HRH Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Members and their guests are able to book its rooms and benefit from the discrete concierge service. Those who can should spoil themselves with a few nights in the elegant penthouse, where you will find a private roof terrace and will be able to benefit from 24-hour butler service. If that seems slightly extravagant, you could stick to the superior king rooms, which feature daily fresh fruit, a personal bar, and a Nespresso coffee machine.
